We're all looking for a magic key to marketing, something that
will finally take the frustration out of failed attempts,
unreturned phone calls and prospective clients that don't seem
to "get it".

I believe we are also looking for more depth, meaning and
significance in our lives. Something more than the 10-second
sound bites and 30-second commercials that leave us feeling
saturated, yet somehow hollow at the same time.

I'm convinced that a sense of connection, even in the business
contacts we make, is what gives us deep, resounding satisfaction
about how we spend our time and who we spend it with. And yes,
I believe (or rather, I know) that a sense of connection and a

What I am about to share with you is not wild, exciting, or
even amazing - but the results are, and more!

The magic key to flooding your business with as many new
customers as you want is consistency. Now please stay with me
on this. Remember, I said it wasn't glamorous, but the results
will thrill you every week you are in business.

Consistency simply means cycling through specific ways to create
and deepen your relationships with your clients/prospective
clients. Sure, you can send out the occasional article, call a
prospective client back when you get the time, or hand out
business cards at a networking meeting. But that is not
consistency. It's just potshot marketing, and the results you
get will be sporadic at best.

Consistency is built on understanding what keeps your client up
at night. What is the "rock in their shoe"' What are they trying
to accomplish and can't seem to make much progress on' With that
information, you can easily stay in touch, offer something of
value and create a real working relationship that pays off for
both of you.

Here are some simple, low or no-cost, creative ways to
consistently stay in touch with your clients and prospective
clients:

• Send an article you found that applies to their business.
Include a cover letter telling them why you thought of them when
you saw the article.

• Send an article you've written about a specific problem
they are experiencing. Keep it short (400-600 words is fine),
with bold headlines and your contact information at the bottom.
Pick a topic that profiles a problem/solution situation that
matches your expertise. Include a live client example to make
it even more powerful.

• Send a thank you note for any kind of referral,
recommendation, tip or new business you receive from a client.
Hand written thank you notes are worth a zillion times their
weight in gold!

• Produce a newsletter, or purchase a pre-made newsletter for
your industry. These are increasingly easy to find on the
Internet. You can also purchase articles for as little as
$15.00 (IdeaMarketers is a fabulous resource for articles of all
subjects).

• Offer to give a free, or low cost, 45-minute "lunch-n-learn"
presentation for their employees. Choose a topic that matches
their interest and your expertise.

• Call and ask for a resource referral you need for another
client's project. Your request goes something like this, "I'm
working on a project for xyz company. I'm helping them
reduce/improve/increase blah, blah, blah. I need a resource for
abc and immediately thought of you. Is there someone you can
recommend'"

• Ask your favorite client if they can recommend a non-profit
organization that needs some volunteer help.

• Send a birthday card.

• Send a follow-up survey after your project is complete.
Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. If appropriate,
include a $10 gift certificate to Starbucks as a thank you for
their time.

• Send a note with a link to a website that offers useful
information to your client/prospective client.

Imagine being in the shoes of your client/prospective client.
Would you appreciate receiving an article, note, thank you card
or phone call' Of course you would! This is just a starter list.
Use it, or create your own ways to be consistent.

Remember the saying "Out of sight, out of mind."' If that is
true, then I am offering a new saying - "Consistency keeps you
in mind at the right time."

Would it be Dilbertssingles or Dilbertsingles' Using a name that causes confusion for your users is not the best way to bring back traffic to your site.

The nature of your site can affect how you are brought up by search engines. If you are wanting to use a particular keyword phrase, you may want to consider using the phrase in your domain name. Many search engines look at the domain name when evaluating a site. Many believe that if the words in a domain name are spaced with dashes that it will help with ranking process. This explains why many names you see will appear as xxx-cccc-uuu on the net. If you will focus your business on a specific area you should also consider using relevant keywords in your domain name.

The at the end of domain names is the holy grail of site names. Here is where you want forget being unique and stick with the oldie but a goodie. Yes, you could use extensions such as .us, , .biz, and so on, but it is an instance homicide to your traffic. You Think YOU'VE Been Scammed



Boy was I scammed! It was my first try at an Internet business. I saw an ad that you could get your own casino. Please do not confuse this with one that is going around new where you can sign up to be an affiliate at a group of casinos. This one was one where you paid them to make your casino. You chose your own casino name. They registered it and made the casino on a theme that went with the name you chose. I paid them a pretty penny to do it, too. In return, I would advertise it and collect 55% of the profits.

I spoke with them, we emailed, we did a contract. I saved every email that they sent and I sent to them. I felt I had covered everything, reading every word in the contract, etc. and asking 25 zillion questions. So, I went to the bank and borrowed the money, as according to statistics, I should be able to pay it back the first year.

Well, the first thing that happened was it took a lot longer to get the site finished than they had said it would. But, in the meantime I went about scouring the Net for places to advertise so I would know where the best places were when the site was ready. By the time they had it up, I already had had to make my first payment on my loan; so I set about advertising with a vengeance! I found ways that worked well and by the 3rd month, we had made a profit and I got my first check! Not a large one, but the exciting thing was we had made a profit!

The fourth month came and my check was larger and just about covered my loan payment. The casino was growing all the time and I was one excited person! The fifth month, I was due to get a check for over $8000! Now I was REALLY excited! What happened' It never came. Oh, there was this excuse and that excuse, but I never got my check. Did I ever get anymore money from them' No. Did I want to sue them' You bet! But did I sue them' No. Why' Because they are in Costa Rica and I am in the United States. Attorneys said their laws are different than ours, plus I had a choice of hiring a Costa Rican attorney and hoping he was honest and would do his job or paying someone from the States to go over there. It was going to be very expensive and there was no guarantee whatsoever that we would prevail. Their advice' Don't put bad money behind bad money. Cut your losses now.

Why have I told you this' I have several reasons for sharing this with you.

1.First of all, be EXTREMELY careful about who you do business with. If you do business with someone in another country, be sure to check out their laws and be sure you are covered if things don't go the way they are supposed to. Things are better now, but in there are still many scammers out there.
2.See if they have testimonials. If they do, write to the people who gave testimonials. They should be linked on the site. If they are NOT linked and you don't see a way to contact them, be wary. They may not be real.
3.See if the business has a contact. See if they give you an address and phone number. If they have no address and phone or just list a post office box, go somewhere else. Post office boxes can easily be closed, and there goes your money and your contact with them.
4.If you have been scammed (and I think there are few of us who haven't been scammed), don't think that everyone on the Internet is dishonest and give up. The Internet is just like the rest of the world: there are honest and dishonest people everywhere. Take what you learned and make something good come out of it. I learned so much about advertising online that I decided to start my own business for marketing and advertising. In other words, make lemonade out of the lemons you got.

It IS realistic that you can be successful online. I'm proof positive of that. All you have to do is be determined and don't let the "bad boys" get you down. If you get scammed, just focus on your goals and work that much harder. We need all the honest business people we can get!

Are we starting to come up with some idea's here' The type of web
sites we're talking about here are no different than the ones
selling tangables. We just need to understand our market nitch. Who
are you selling your product to' Well! for the most part other
people that are selling exactly the same types of things. Now that's
a tough market, selling the salesman. The other customer you are
looking for, ( and make no mistake about it they are customers) is
the person that is either looking for a little extra income or a
chance to get out of the rat race!

Keeping all this in mind, what types of things will induce those
people into your web-site'

First, and formost is "INFORMATION" There is not one of us that
isn't looking for more "information"!

1. How do I make a web-site' 2. How do I write an ad that "really"
works' 3. What is an auto-responder' And why do I need one' 4. Where
do I go to place my ads' 5. Where do I find news groups' And how do
I post to them' 6. What am I doing here and why did I think I could
make $$$ on the Internet' ( just added that to see if you were

This type of freebie can bring visiters coming back to your site
again and again!

that gives out Awards for "COOL" or interesting sites. And a third
has a resource that allows you to access 1000's of graphic's, html,

promote to draw traffic to your site, and you only had to spend the

Don't Believe The Hype...



Of the Internet marketing "guru"! Why you ask I'll tell you why.
I am going to give you a few reasons why you should not believe all this hype and more. Let it be know these are reasons I have come up with, from my own experience. This is in no way saying they all are not real but I am saying that the truth is being stretched just a little bit in some cases.
Some of you may agree, some may disagree but for me you can't get all caught up. If you really thing about it for a while you too will realize that some of the stories you hear are too good to be true.
Here are a few reasons why...
1. First and foremost in my mind newbie's to internet marketing and some not so new. There is NO WAY we will ever have the backing these "guru's" have, meaning all of them it seems have joint ventures with each other.
Really lets thing about this for a moment, if you go to one of the top "guru" sites you can make a list of at least 2-4 other top "guru's" who are giving praise to the products or services being sold. Now take those same names, go to their site chances are you will see the same people on your list plus the "guru" whose site you just left.
So you see why I have come to the conclusion they all are backing each other in one-way or another. This alone puts everyone else at a disadvantage.
2. I have a few words to start off with this one they are Opt-in list; yes all are partners' this goes back to the joint venture issue. Not only do they have huge subscriber lists, when a guru comes out with a new product or service its not released to the public first no, no, no. Joe Doe will call or email his good friend Jack to send out to his list by way of Jack’s affiliate link. Joint Ventures are very powerful there is no way I can compete with this, neither can you.
Oh don't forget the great commissions they get as well, for offering the information to their list. Come on lets face it, you receive information I know I do at least 3-4 emails announcing something new each week all from different newsletter subscriptions I subscribe to informing me of how good a deal this new product or service is.
When in fact the bottom line is that some of it is not all that good, and not worth some of the over pricing we see everyday. Yes, sure it’s nice to receive it instantly but does that mean you should be charged that much more for the privilege well some will say yes sure you should but I just don't know.
I saw a commercial recently when compared to waiting a year for a new birthday; I don't think waiting a few days is all that bad.
3. When you really get down to it, their success is not going to be your success. There is no way that it could be, sure you may make some money but will you make hundreds, thousands or even millions like some of the stories you here online. I say NO you won't and this is why I feel you can’t believe the hype of the internet marketing business. It can be quite disappointing when you buy all that is recommended to you to only to find out some of it is crap, does not work with what you want to do in your business.
With that said, go for you own success don't try to ride on someone else's success. Find what works for you, build on it, and work one thing at a time. Once you have the system that works do it over and over this is the key to success.
Use the information in the many informational ebooks as a guide or “how to” reference not a blueprint to the road to success. Take what you need and leave the rest.

lose your prospect's attention. Or worse. You might send
them to another company's website!
